Here are the first roadbooks for cyclists long The Via dei Cairoli, the territory in Ticino Park which affects the Municipalities of Carbonara al Ticino, Garlasco, Gropello Cairoli, Villanova d’Ardenghi, Zerbolò and the city of Pavia. The main cycle itinerary, one of the two already available online, starts from Gropello Cairoli and winds along a 65-kilometer ring route that allows you to discover the territory and the inhabited areas of the neighboring municipalities, with rice fields, black alder woods, castles and ancient parish churches.
In all there are five itineraries of La Via dei Cairoli to be covered on foot or on two wheels to discover landscapes and flavors of this area of Lomellina a few steps from the Ticino river. The related roadbooks, soon available in full with a first selection of catering and hospitality services, are designed to facilitate the use and promote the tourist offer of a territory that has a lot to offer in terms of nature, history and gastronomy and that it just waits to be re-discovered.
According to the association Man and Pro Natura Territory that promotes the La Via dei Cairoli project, the key to consolidating the existing offer and launching new opportunities to support economies is that of sustainable tourism and the reconstruction of forest connections. A recipe that administrations can make as long as they always keep in mind, among others, a fundamental element: the road safety.
For this reason Man and Territory Pro Natura asked the mayors of the municipalities of La Via dei Cairoli and the Province of Pavia to activate some simple interventions aimed at guaranteeing safety of urban and suburban roads, starting with the reduction of speed limits and the integration / creation of signs, so that users can travel the recommended cycle routes in complete tranquility and safety.
